Cocktail Inspiration Penniless Sour
Made with PROSPEROUS & PENNILESS RYE MALT WHISKEY
A California take on the classic “New York Sour” featuring our Prosperous & Penniless Rye Malt Whiskey and Buena Vista Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ingredients
A California take on the classic “New York Sour” featuring our Prosperous & Penniless Rye Malt Whiskey and Buena Vista Cabernet Sauvignon.
- 2 ounces Prosperous & Penniless Rye Malt Whiskey
- 1 ounce Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ ounce Simple Syrup*
- 1 dash Aromatic Bitters
- 1 ea. Egg white
- 1 ounce Buena Vista Cabernet Sauvignon

- *Simple Syrup
- 225 grams demerara sugar
- 225 grams hot water
Method
Simple Syrup
Combine the sugar and hot water in a container and stir until the sugar is full dissolved. Properly chill and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.
Penniless Sour Cocktail
Combine all ingredients except BV Cabernet Sauvignon in a shaker, dry shake hard for 10 seconds to begin emulsification of the egg white. Add ice and shake hard for 10 seconds until thoroughly chilled and properly diluted. Strain over ice in a rocks glass, and then float the BV Cabernet over the top of the cocktail.
